You may be an athlete, a competitor or recreational sports participant or exercising for fitness.
From a background of competitive sport and post-graduate degrees in Podiatry and Exercise Physiology, I have a special insight into training induced injury and traumatic injury and can assist in the management and rehabilitation of episodes of lower leg injury.
Tendon injuries, plantar fascia injuries, for example can cause disruption to training and competition plans. There are times in sport that things don’t go to plan. I have experienced injuries in an athletic career.
The frustrations and disappointment can also be painful. To assist with accurate diagnosis of muscular skeletal issues ultrasound examination is performed in house. Combining diagnostic imaging with a clinical assessment as a starting point, I offer injury management and training strategies to help you to achieve your goal. I like to help athletes return to active participation.
Physical Therapies including foot and lower leg mobilisation techniques, lower limb acupuncture plus dry needling are provided.
I completed undergraduate podiatry studies at the South Australian Institute of Technology, now known as the University of South Australia and have continued with post graduate studies in Podiatry and Exercise Physiology. I have over 30 years of experience as a Podiatrist. During this time I have been actively involved in the Australian Podiatry Association Continuing Professional Development Program, maintaining professional accreditation. I have also gained considerable clinical experience at a number of international institutions and have given academic presentations on the physiology and mechanics of running at podiatry conferences, at the University of South Australia, the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine and the Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine.
In leisure time I have enjoyed athletic competition, winning interclub finals and state championships. I have won various road races including the Adelaide Marathon and ½ Marathon, plus I have had success as an age group competitor in athletics and triathlon. I maintain membership with Adelaide Harriers Athletic Club and Adelaide Triathlon Club and continue to participate in triathlon events and fun runs.
